Rasing Named to Young People's Central Conference Post

NASHVILLE, Tenn. March 23, 2015 /Discipleship Ministries/ – The addition of Mighty Rasing to the staff of Discipleship Ministries as the new director of program development for Central Conferences will bolster the effectiveness of the United Methodist Church's youth and young adult ministries in those areas of the world.

Rasing has served for the last five years as the regional staff person for the Young People's Ministries (YPM) unit of Discipleship Ministries in the Philippines.

"Mighty's gifts in technology and social media will be a tremendous gift to the vital communication function of this new position," said Michael Ratliff, Associate General Secretary at Discipleship Ministries and head of YPM. "I anticipate significant expansion of our effectiveness in reaching and developing young leaders throughout our global connection to offer young people Christ, resource them as they grow into disciples and engage them in world-changing ministries."

Rasing previously served as the youth representative to the global Division on Ministries with Young People (DMYP) from the Philippines Central Conference where he was the national youth president.

In the next two months, Rasing will visit every continent where the UMC is ministering with young people, Ratliff said. He will work out of the Nashville offices of Discipleship Ministries and can be reached by email at [email protected].
