Light, Light

Words and Music: Jackson Henry, 2009
Topics: Epiphany

"Light, light" is a new hymn written to celebrate the Epiphany of the Lord or Epiphany Sunday. It is musically set in a contemporary, band-driven style, but it follows metrical patterns akin to traditional hymnody, using short statements, vivid imagery, and driving rhythms to celebrate the brightness of the star that leads to Christ.

The melody is characterized by numerous syncopated lines, but the use of repetition makes it accessible for congregations. Try doubling the congregational melody with a C instrument- a flute, violin, or even another keyboard.
