Christ Said Accept the Stranger

Words: Andrew Pratt
Music: tune, KINGDOM, V. Earle Copes, 1921-2014
Topics: refuge; refugee; hospitality; welcome; care;

On August 28, 2015, the British press reported seventy dead bodies found in a cargo truck in Austria, refugees seeking freedom and a new home. British Methodist pastor Andrew Pratt was moved by this event to compose this hymn, which reminds us that Christ commands us to welcome the stranger, accept the refugee, and care for them. It asks uncomfortable questions of those who fail to do so.
