At Its Best Life Is A Wonder

Music: CWM Rhondda by John Hughes, 1907

This hymn, subtitled Ashes, is especially appropriate for Ash Wednesday and Lent. The text is by J. Scott McKay from Sugar Land, Texas, a United Methodist minister on disability with Parkinson's disease. He writes, "The verse about 'limbs obeyed me' speaks directly to my condition. Sleepless nights are a common symptom of Parkinson's disease. It was in the wee hours of one of those nights that I wrote, Ashes."
