Africana Hymnal Study Committee
The 2008 General Conference authorized the Discipleship Ministries and the United Methodist Publishing House to conduct a study to determine the need for an official United Methodist hymnal for North American Christians of African descent.
As a result of General Conference Petition 80217, a study committee has been constituted to study the worship and ritual needs of the more than 444,000 black Methodists in the United Methodist Church in North America.
